Christmas Covell, Ph.D.
Clinical & Forensic Psychology
I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing services to the Tacoma area. I earned a doctoral degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2002, after completing an internship with Western State Hospital. I established an independent private practice in 2007. My practice focuses on general mental health treatment as well as evaluations for legal, or forensic, purposes.
I value science-informed practices and procedures in my work. I am interested in research examining the structure and functioning of the brain, and the application of this knowledge to understanding and improving mental health. It is my goal is to assist clients in achieving effective and lasting changes and enhanced functioning by integrating cognitive-behavioral therapy, neurotherapy, and biofeedback treatment techniques. I specialize in working with:
- attention and cognitive dysfunction
- trauma-related symptoms
- excessive or unhealthy use of the internet or electronics
- sexual and pornography addictions
- professionals looking to optimize their performance
- stress management and enhanced wellness
I also provide forensic mental health assessment and consultation services. I have extensive training and experience performing these services in a variety of civil and criminal contexts, and have worked within several social, health, and corrections agencies in Washington state. I presently work with legal professionals and agencies to conduct evaluations pertaining to disability, worker’s compensation, professional misconduct and personal injury, as well as psychosexual evaluations and assessments of risk for future violence.
