Jacqueline Cohen, LSW
Jacqueline Cohen is a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP- 2019). She also received a certification from the Natural Gourmet Institute for Food and Health in NYC, (1993) and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC (IIN, 2005). Over the years, Jackie has worked with many clients with different issues, i. e. people with HIV infection, folks in Early Recovery, and other areas; helping them to “clean up their diets”. She works with folks both in groups and in individual sessions.
In addition, Jackie is a retired licensed Social Worker from NYC, with 30 years of clinical experience. Jackie worked in the Substance Abuse field, mainly in methadone and opiate addiction and recovery. This included trauma work, crisis intervention, and specific women’s issues. Jackie has spent many years supervising staff and implementing program development.
Jackie is the co-author of the Mentally Ill Chemical Abuser, Whose Client? (Lexington Books, New York, 1992.) This book has also been translated into Polish. Jackie has designed and given trainings on the issues of Co—Occurring Disorders, Assessment and Treatment Planning; Nutrition, Addiction and Health.
Jackie addresses nutritional changes from a “Harm Reduction” model perspective; Small but consistent changes can be effectively managed and built on. As a client, you will work with Jackie to assess your current diet. During the initial session, your goals will be identified, and discussed. A plan will be developed with suggestions for change, that will help you to methodically and incrementally reach these goals. Lifestyle concerns will also be addressed in this plan to help you to move toward your own optimal health.
